Rewind (Poem)

You are here for a reason. Look inside yourself, and you will find out why.

A Moment

Hello? Hello?
I’ve been here before.
I’m back again. But what for?
I’m standing alone in this cold dark room with confusion and not a soul in my view.

Surrounded by four closed doors, I sigh.
Without a key, how can I get inside?

I walk up to the first one, a deep dark blue.
I knock once, then twice, and I won’t pass two.

When a mirror shows in front of me, I ask ”Who are you?”

As the room begins to freeze, I move to the door next to me.
I knock once, twice, and finally thrice as the room slowly fills with ice.
”Let me in! I don’t have the key!”

”Did you look in the mirror? What did you see?”

Here I stand, confused again.
Alongside a soul I like to call my friend.

I’m back again. But what for?
I’m standing in the dark, facing two closed doors.

Tears fill my eyes at the sight of the horror.
While I hug my friend and say, ”I don’t want to be here anymore.”

Wrapped in an embrace I thought was real.
I open my eyes as it slowly disappears.

Now alone, in the dark and with no key in sight.
I start to wonder what I didn’t do right.

I walked up to the door once again, knocking over and over as bruises cover my hands.
”Let me in! I’m all alone! Where is the friend I once called home?”

”Open the door. Why don’t you see? That I am you, and you are me.”

Curled up on the ground, I’m alone again.
With only the darkness to call my friend.
No soul, no light, no key I can see.
I begin to question myself and my reality.

”Where do I go? What do I do?”

”Just open the door. The key is you.”
